How do I make a reservation?
When you are ready to make a reservation send us an email through our website contact form or give us a call. We will get back to you within one business day.

What if I’m undecided on where I should go or have questions before I make my reservation?
Contact us through our website contact form or give us a call. We can help answer any questions you may have and help you to decide which destination is right for your current trip. We will respond to you within one business day.

When is payment due?
Once your selected destination and dates have been confirmed we will require a deposit to hold your reservation. Each lodge and each outfitter has different payment terms so deposit amounts, final payment terms and non-refundable amounts will be discussed with you when your reservation is confirmed.

Will service fees be added to my trip cost?
In most cases services fees will not apply. In some cases, we may charge a service fee (for example, some custom trip bookings). We will always discuss if service fees will apply and what those fees are before incurring any fees on your behalf.

What methods of payment can I use?
Electronic transfer, certified cheque, cash

Is my trip cost refundable if I don’t go?
Each lodge and each outfitter has different terms regarding refund policies. We will provide this information to you with your reservation confirmation.

Should I purchase travel insurance?
Travel insurance is an important part of your trip planning. Your travel insurance needs will depend on what insurance coverage you have with your home insurance, your employers’ insurance or other personal insurance policies. Review your coverage to assess your personal needs for travel delays, baggage delay, baggage loss, trip interruption, medical and emergency medical evacuation insurance, etc.

A note on baggage delay and loss:
While airlines do everything possible to ensure your bags will arrive at your destination with you. Delays can happen. Trust us, we know. Always be sure that your carry-on includes a few items you need to be able to enjoy your vacation if your bags don’t arrive with you. Our carry-on bags are our boat bags and we ensure that the bag contains a set of wading clothes, wading boots, prescription medications, sunscreen, raincoat, sweater, sandals, some fly fishing gear, camera, etc. We also wear clothes on the plane that will be useful for our planned activities at our destination, just in case. Be sure that anything you pack in your carry-on is allowed as carry-on items on the airline that you are traveling on and at the time of your travel.

What kind of pretrip information will be provided?
Once your reservation is confirmed and your deposit has been received we will provide you with a detailed pretrip planning list so that when it comes time to pack your bags you will be ready to go!

How will information be provided to me?
We will email all invoices, itineraries and information to you. We are also available to talk to you and discuss any questions that you may have.
*In an effort to be kind to the environment, hard copies of invoices and itineraries will be mailed by special request only.

How will I know what to take with me?
Once your reservation is confirmed and your deposit has been received we will provide you with detailed destination specific packing lists for:
•    Fly fishing gear
•    Recommended flies
•    Personal items
•    Clothing

How will I know how to get to my destination and complete my air bookings?
We currently do not book air travel. However, we will provide advice on which airports to fly in to for each destination, airlines that fly into those destinations, and preferred arrival times for connections to local transfers. If you need to overnight in your flight arrival city prior to transferring to your lodge, we can help you with those bookings.

What if I am traveling alone? Are rates for single travelers/anglers available?
Yes! A single supplement is available for almost any destination and any package that we offer. Let us know you are traveling alone and we can provide options and pricing.

My partner and I both fly fish. Are there certain locations that cater to couples?
We travel as a fly fishing couple and some lodges do cater to more couples than others. We can make suggestions if you prefer to be at a lodge where you are likely to encounter other couples.

My partner doesn’t fly fish or doesn’t want to fly fish every day. Are there options available to us?
Absolutely! Many of our destinations and lodges offer activities and tours other than fly fishing. Let us know what your interests are and we can help you decide which destination is right for both of you.

My family wants to take a vacation and combine some fishing with other activities. Are there options available to us?
Absolutely! Many of our destinations and lodges offer activities and tours other than fly fishing. Some are more suited to families than others. Let us know what your interests are and we can help you decide which destination is right for your entire family.

Can I keep the fish that I catch?
At On The Water Fly Fishing Travel we practice Catch and Release for all of our fishing regardless of the regulations on the local fishery. That said, there is the option to keep fish at some of the destinations that we offer. If you wish to keep some of your catch that is your choice. Just be sure you will be able to prepare your catch (or have it prepared for you) to enjoy at your destination or that you are allowed to return home with your catch.

I/we prefer to travel with a group. Are there options available?
If you prefer to travel with a group please review our Hosted Trips page to see if there is a current option that will work for you. If you don’t see something that appeals to you contact us to discuss. We are always developing new Hosted Trips.

I have a group that wants to travel together. Can groups be accommodated?
Yes, we can accommodate your group booking. Contact us by sending us an email through our website contact form or give us a call to discuss your options. We will get back to you within one business day.

How do I access information regarding specials and other announcements from On The Water Fly Fishing Travel?
Check out our Specials page, send us an email through our website contact form or give us a call to sign up for our mailing list so that you receive updates on our package offerings and announcements regarding specials. You can also check for announcements on our Instagram or Facebook pages.

What tips/gratuities should I anticipate providing to my guides, drivers, lodge staff?
Each destination may have different standards. We will provide information regarding tips/gratuities with your pretrip information package.
