Tarponville Lodge is located on the Caribbean coast, near the border with Panama and is Costa Rica's southern most fishing lodge. The fishing waters are situated in a wildlife and marine reserve, which ensures management and protection of the fish and their habitat. Tarponville offers you numerous chances to hook a tarpon weighing over 100 pounds, as well as opportunities to catch other inshore species including permit, bonefish and snook. While this is an established fishery, Tarponville Lodges' guides continue to scout the lagoons and uninhabited coastline for undiscovered fishing opportunities. If you are looking for a real fishing adventure, English speaking guides and fish that have rarely seen a fly then try the newest and most exciting locale in the Americas.

A normal tarpon fishing day will start with breakfast at 6:30 am. You will depart from the lodge by 7:00 am for the approximately 20 to 30 minute boat ride to the fishing grounds. Normally you will return to the lodge around noon for a prepared lunch and then fish the afternoon from about 2:00 pm until dark. This schedule allows you to be On The Water during the prime fishing hours.

The Tarponville bonefish and permit fishery is truly virgin territory. The fish in this area have seen little to no fishing pressure for the past decade. In order to experience this fishery, you will depart Tarponville Lodge by vehicle shuttle as early as 4:30 am, heading to meet your local guide less than 30 minutes away. Your morning will be divided between walking and wading and fishing from the boat. At around 11:00 am you will return to Tarponville Lodge via the shuttle for lunch, and siesta and then return to the tarpon fishery for the evening session.

Complete Tarponville fishing packages include accommodations in a clean and comfortable beachfront lodge located just outside the village of Manzanillo. The lodge is located in a Wildlife Refuge with no direct vehicle access and a walk of about 275 metres (300 yards) is required to reach the buildings.

Each room at the lodge has two beds, ceiling fans, a private bathroom and some rooms have a beachfront view of the coral reef. The rooms are located only a few metres from the waters edge on a beautiful beach perfect for swimming, snorkeling or just plain relaxing. The combination of the ceiling fans and the consistent ocean breeze makes sleeping quite comfortable.

As mentioned above, the lodge is located in the middle of the Manzanillo/Gandoca Wildlife Refuge, one of the most beautiful places in the entire area. Howler monkeys, sloths, an amazing number of bird species and other wildlife can all be viewed from your front porch in the mornings and evenings.

All meals at the lodge will be prepared by local cooks, and the menu will include such items as snapper, local fruits and vegetables and other local delicacies. The lodge bar is stocked with complimentary beer and rum during happy hour. Sodas and mixers are available for your use with any alcohol that you would like to purchase at the duty free store in San José and bring with you to the lodge.

Other activities in this spectacular area include: wild dolphin watching tours, ocean kayaking with wild dolphin, river kayaking, guided jungle hikes, snorkeling and Scuba diving, horseback riding, indigenous cultural tours, botanical gardens, beachcombing the miles of undeveloped white sand beaches and the legendary Caribbean night life in Puerto Viejo.

On arrival at the Limon International Airport, you will be greeted by your shuttle driver and taken on the short ride to Tarponville (about 50-60 minutes). On arrival at Tarponville you will have a brief orientation, lunch (depending when you arrive) and you will have time to settle into your room. Starting the following day after being served a hot breakfast, you will begin fishing for the specified days in your package. On your final day (day of departure) , you will have breakfastand board the shuttle for the Limon airport.

Tarponville Lodge has two fishing seasons, March 1 - May 31 and August 1 - October 31. The rate for a 6 night/5 days fishing package, per person, based on double occupancy is $4,400 USD*.

The supplement for permit/bonefishing is $110 USD per morning session (sessions include two anglers).

Tarponville Lodge does not have a set schedule; therefore, rates for shorter or longer stays are available. Non-fishing rates and combination fishing and adventure packages are also available.
